Romney’s Heated Exchange With Newt: ‘This Ain’t Beanbag’

Asked to directly address his campaign talking points about Mitt Romney being a “liar,” Newt Gingrich faced Romney and asked him if he thought the Super PACs who support Mitt are running unfair ads.

“This ain’t beanbag,” Romney responded, deflecting. “Speaker Gingrich…the rhetoric is a little over the top.”

“You think my rhetoric is over the top but your ads are totally reasonable?” shot back Gingrich.

Romney explained that hasn’t seen the ads in question, and that the Super PACs running ads with his message are of course funded by some of his friends, but as the law says, he isn’t tied to them, nor can he control them.
