Romney Promises To Fix ‘Legal’ Immigration System

On the issue of immigration reform, Mitt Romney said that we are “a nation of immigrants” and that we welcome immigrants. Romney said he wants to fix the legal immigration system: “I want our legal system to work better. I want it to be streamlined. I want it to be clearer.” 

Romney also said he will not grant amnesty for those who come here illegally and that he will implement an employment verification system. Romney said he would not give drivers licenses to those who come here illegally. DREAMers should have pathway to permanent residency, he said.

Romney also attacked President Obama, saying he had promised an immigration reform bill in his first year and did not deliver one.
