Mitt Romney refused to take the bait Wednesday when asked about stories circulating that President Obama ate dog meat as a child in Indonesia, telling conservative radio host Bill Cunningham: “This campaign is going to ultimately become about jobs, not dogs.”

Romney has faced questions, even at one point from former rival Rick Santorum, over putting his dog Seamus on the roof of the family car on a vacation to Canada.

“Look, you recognize, of course, that some members of the media and certainly the DNC and the White House itself, are going to do everything in their power to divert the attention of the voter from the failure of the president to turn around the economy,” Romney said.
