Romney Campaign Manager Launching GOP Research Group

Matt Rhoades, Mitt Romney’s 2012 campaign manager, is launching a new political organization to counter the Democratic-affiliated American Bridge.

CNN reported Thursday that two staffers recently departed from the Republican National Committee’s communications shop, Tim Miller and Joe Pounder, will team up with Rhoades to launch the organization, dubbed America Rising. Their first targets are 2016 hopefuls on the left, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Rhoades told CNN in a statement:

“We plan to start this enterprise because so many Republicans seem to agree that there is a need on our side of the aisle for an entity that is focused on solely holding Democrats accountable for their actions and records using research, candidate tracking, rapid response and digital tools.”
