Romney Camp Defends ‘Humorous’ Story About Layoffs

Democrats are passing around an odd anecdote from Mitt Romney in which he told Wisconsin voters he could relate to them because his father, George Romney, moved a factory from Michigan to their state and then struggled to overcome the fallout over the layoffs when he later ran for governor of Michigan.

But Romney spokesman Eric Ferhnstrom said via Twitter there’s nothing to see here: “You know what’s “humorous”? Caterwauling from the Dems about Mitt’s recall of a campaign story involving his dad.” He added a hashtag to the message, “fakeoutrage.”
