A a top RNC official dismissed Rep. Todd Akin’s (R-MO) remarks about “legitimate rape” as “reprensible and biologically stupid” on MSNBC Monday but declined to call on Akin to leave the Missouri Senate race.
“I think he admits that he made a mistake, that he used inappropriate language. I think we can all agree it was reprehensible and biologically stupid,” RNC adviser Sean Spicer said. But he wasn’t ready to join Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) in calling on Akin to step aside.
“I think that’s up to him to decide,” Spicer said.
