Rick Santorum, currently trailing in Michigan, suggested that his competitive position was already a victory of sorts given Mitt Romney’s ties to the state.
“First and foremost, I just have to say to the people of Michigan, you know we came into the backyard of one of my oppponents in a race where everyone said to ignore, you have no chance here,” he said. “And the people looked into the hearts of the candidates and all I have to say is, ‘I love you back.'”
