Republican lawmakers were quick to cheer the news that Attorney General Eric Holder would resign, arguing that he has been an incredibly partisan attorney general.
Their reactions came almost immediately after news broke that Holder planned to step down.
Good riddance Eric Holder. Your disregard for the Constitution of the United States will not be missed.

Anyone sad to see Eric Holder stepping down as AG? Not me. I can’t think of any AG in history who has attacked Louisiana more than Holder.

Rep. Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight & Government Reform also weighed in.
Eric Holder is the most divisive U.S. Attorney General in modern history.
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) September 25, 2014
Holder has strong-armed reporters, practically ignored high-level wrongdoing, and blocked his own agency’s Inspector General’s access.

The responses are to be expected. Republicans have long decried Holder as a highly corrupt attorney general responsible for the ATF’s Operation Fast & Furious.
Other conservatives and the Republican Governors’ Association also sounded a similar tune.
A good day for America. Goodbye #EricHolder. http://t.co/GakJLmYqkN

Eric Holder’s resignation as AG is long overdue. Lets win the U.S. Senate so we can ensure Obama’s next AG isn’t as extreme as he is.

Let’s hope the next GOP administration throws the book at Eric Holder, a corrupt hack. http://t.co/wsbhpz3NPR

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) asked followers on his website whether they had any parting words for Cornyn under text that read “Say Goodbye To Eric Holder!”
