Donald McGhan, a Republican member of the Federal Election Commission, really wants to help out Sen. Mike Lee on his request to have his very own “super PAC.” He’s just being held up by the law.

“How do I get around the fact that this is a leadership PAC?” McGhan said, later adding: “How do I get around this leadership PAC hurdle?”

McGhan encouraged Lee’s lawyer to try out a court challenge.

“Personally, I probably agree, but we kind of lost that fight,” Lee said, adding he had “some sympathy for the position.”

He also summed up the whole issue clearly – some might say too clearly: “If he (Lee) wasn’t in the chair, you can do whatever you want.”
