Two people are in custody in British Columbia, charged with building pressure cooker bombs similar to the ones used in the Boston Marathon bombings as part of a Canada Day terror plot.
Amanda Marie Korody, 30, and John Stewart Nuttall, 39, both of British Columbia, were arrested Monday and have each been charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offense, knowingly facilitating a terrorist activity and possession of an explosive substance, according to CBC News.
Police said the two were “inspired by al-Qaeda ideology,” but that the incident had no international ties.
Sources told CBC News that the charges were possibly prompted by a package or packages left outside the provincial legislature in Victoria.
