Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone intends to run for New Jersey’s open Senate seat, sources told PolitickerNJ on Tuesday.

Gov. Chris Christie said earlier Tuesday that a special election will take place in October to fill the seat vacated by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who died on Monday, and he will appoint someone to serve in the interim. The primary will take place on Aug. 13.
