Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ) is said to be preparing to make launch a bid in New Jersey’s 2014 Senate race, Roll Call reported on Wednesday.

The report cited “knowledgable sources” who indicated that Pallone is “all but certain to run” if Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) retires. The 88-year-old Lautenberg has given no indication if he will seek a sixth term in 2014, but popular Newark, N.J. Mayor Cory Booker (D) has already signaled his intention to run.

Pallone, who has been in the House of Representatives since 1988, is reportedly less apt to run if Lautenberg remains in the race, according to Roll Call.
