It’s no secret that big money was dumped into the Wisconsin recall elections. But according to new estimates released Tuesday, nearly $44 million was poured into the races, the AP reports:

The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign based its estimates on reports filed with the state and assumptions on how much was spent by groups that don’t have to report.

According to the report, Democrats outspend Republicans $23.4 million to $20.5 million.
