LivingSocial, the five-year-old e-coupons site headquartered in Washington, D.C., is scheduled on Thursday to lay off 400 workers from its U.S., out of its “more than 4,500” employees around the globe, according to a report from The Washington Business Journal. The move comes after LivingSocial won a $32.5 million tax break from the D.C. Council, according to The Washington Business Journal.
The report also follows speculation that the board of another separate e-commerce deals company, Groupon, is getting ready to fire its founder and CEO Andrew Mason, who said Wednesday at The Business Insider Ignition conference in New York City he would “be the first person to fire” himself if he thought he was incapable of leading the company.
