The FBI has arrested 37 people in connection with a massive international cyber fraud scheme that netted multi-millions, according to ABC News. The FBI reportedly set up a decoy website to lure the criminals in an effort called “Operation Card Shop.” As ABC News reports:
The alleged fraudsters could buy and sell stolen credit card numbers, drivers licenses and bank information on the [FBI created decoy] web site, as well as discuss general hacking techniques, officials said.
Agents then identified the suspects and made the arrests, which took them to 12 countries on four continents.
The official list of those arrested and more details about the operation are expected to be announced this afternoon in Manhattan federal court, according to The Wall Street Journal.
