Facebook is testing a competitor to “Snapchat,” the increasingly popular timed-photo messaging app that has been linked by the media to sexting, the practice of sending sexually explicit photos and content, according to a report from All Things D published Sunday. Snapchat added support for timed videos on Friday and was recently reported to be raising up to $8 million in venture capital funding for a valuation of $50 million. That app allows users to pick a time for how long their messages last on recipients’ phones before disappearing. Facebook’s app would reportedly work ths same way and is scheduled to released before the end of 2012, according to All Things D.
