There are at least 35 dead after a series of attacks against foreign and Afghan targets Sunday in Afghanistan, reports the LA Times. At least 11 police officers, five civilians and 19 insurgents were killed in the attacks. The Times also reports that attackers around Kabul have been surrounded by Afghan Security Forces.

Fighting went on for seven hours Sunday after insurgents attacked the U.S., British, German and Russian embassies, parliament, NATO headquarters and a military academy. The Taliban took responsibility in a message to the media, saying the assaults were part of a spring offensive. There were also attacks at airfields and police headquarters in several provinces outside Kabul.
