Rep. Ron Barber, Gabrielle Giffords’ successor in Congress, is recovering after minor surgery, his office announced Tuesday. The surgery removed a cancerous tumor from the congressman’s tongue.

“Congressman Barber was released from the hospital earlier today after a successful surgery,” Barber’s doctor, Audrey Erman, M.D., said.  “He is expected to make a full recovery.”
