Last week, Erika Andiola’s home was raided by immigration authorities and her mother and older brother arrested. This week, she has a new job promoting immigration reform in Congress. Andiola, a prominent activist in support of the proposed DREAM Act, has been hired by freshman Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) as her district outreach director.

DRM Action Coalition came into existence to ensure DREAMers would be directly involved in the legislative process to ensure our communities are represented in the halls of power,” Cesar Vargas, executive director of DRM Action Coaltion, which Andiola co-founded, said in a statement. “Having Erika join the team as a staffer to a member of Congress ensures the vision of DRM as we move forward on immigration reform and the DREAM Act.”
