CHARLOTTE — Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) made a surprise appearance at the Democratic women’s caucus meeting here Thursday, firing up the crowd by calling on women to engage in the election.
“You are all beautiful. And powerful,” the veteran civil rights leader said. “You must use your power for good.”
Lewis told the women in the crowd that the election will be about their personal freedoms.
“No government should be able to tell a woman what she can and cannot do to her body,” Lewis said to thunderous applause. “We must march to the polls like we never marched before.”
