Progressive Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) said Sunday that the United States could “play a greater role” in the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
“I believe the United States could play a greater role in dealing with the humanitarian crisis,” Ellison said on NBC’s “Meet the Press. “We have spillage and refugees in Jordan, in Lebanon, and internally displaced people in Syria. The suffering is intense, and I don’t think the world’s greatest superpower, the United States, can stand by and not do anything.”
Ellison added that it is to President Obama’s credit that some steps have been taken to deal with the crisis but that the U.S. should do more.
