Redbox and Verizon are teaming up to take on Netflix for the online streaming video market: On Wednesday, the two companies opened up their new streaming service, “Redbox Instant,” as a beta version for select users, free for the first month and $8 a month afterwards. The plan gives members “unlimited” access to Verizon and Redbox’s streaming video titles and 4 credits for DVD rentals.

Netflix costs $7.99 a month for a streaming only plan and is currently holding its own free, one-month trial for new subscribers.
