A new poll from Rasmussen shows former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with a ten point lead in Wisconsin ahead of the state’s April 3rd Republican primary. Romney gets 44 percent while former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum sees 34, as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) both get seven. The numbers are close to an NBC/Marist poll of the state released Friday morning that showed Romney with a seven point lead.

From Rasmussen:

But 81% predict that Romney will end up as the GOP presidential nominee versus just 12% who expect Santorum to come out on top. Fifty-five percent (55%) think the former Massachusetts governor would be the strongest challenger to President Obama, while 25% believe Santorum would be the best candidate.

Seventy-nine percent (79%) say Romney is at least somewhat likely to beat Obama if he is the Republican candidate. Sixty-eight percent (68%) think Santorum would win as well. But those numbers include 53% who say Romney is Very Likely to win, compared to just 27% who think that of Santorum. Fifty-four percent (54%) and 76% respectively believe Gingrich and Paul are unlikely to beat the incumbent.
