Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) reportedly took a jab Thursday night at rival Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) eligibility to run for President, even though he wasn’t present at Fox Business Network’s Republican presidential debate.

Paul was holding his own town hall to correspond with the primetime GOP debate after he was bumped down to the earlier undercard debate and refused to participate. He ribbed Cruz by complimenting a Canadian fan on having a fellow “countryman” running in the United States’ 2016 election.

Cruz’s eligibility to run for President as a “natural born citizen” recently has been questioned, since Cruz was born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father.
