Sen. Rand Paul, the son of Congressman and GOP presidential hopeful Ron Paul, published an op-ed in the Des Moines Register Friday. The article expressed concern that Newt Gingrich was getting Tea Party support and explained that Newt is not a Tea Partier at all: “Gingrich is not from the tea party. He is not even a conservative. He is part of the Washington establishment I was sent to fight.”
While the article only mentions his father once, it’s obvious who would get his vote. As the Iowa caucuses near, it’s not inconceivable that Paul could eke out a strong second-place showing, or even a win on January 3.
