Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) criticized House Republican leadership on Thursday for “purging” conservatives from various committee posts earlier this week.

“We had a couple of congressmen who stood up and said you know what the Paul Ryan budget doesn’t balance for 28 years, and so for voting against the Republican establishment they were purged,” Paul said on the Peter Schiff radio show.

House Republican leadership stripped four GOPers — including two members who served on the Budget committee, incidentally chaired by Rep. Paul Ryan — of committee seats this week for bucking leadership over the last term. Paul warned his counterparts in the House, suggesting a political price could be exacted in the future.

“I guess it shows the true colors of people,” Paul said. “I don’t know if any of these people want to run for president, maybe they’re going to have to explain why they wanted to purge people from their committees who believe in balancing the budget.”
