American voters trust President Barack Obama slightly more than Republicans in Congress to handle the nation’s economy, according to the latest findings from Quinnipiac University released Monday.

Forty-seven percent of registered voters nationwide said they trust Obama to do a better job handling the economy, while 41 percent said they trust the congressional GOP more on the issue. The poll also showed voters giving the nod to Obama on health care, the federal deficit, gun policy, immigration, foreign policy and the environment.

By a margin of 48 percent to 39 percent, voters said they trust Republicans in Congress to do a better job than the President to cut federal spending.
