Two new polls from Quinnipiac University show Democratic Senators Sherrod Brown (OH) and Bill Nelson (FL) leading their Republican challengers. Brown has a ten point lead over Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel, while Nelson has an eight point lead over Rep. Connie Mack (R-FL). Both Democrats lead among indepentent voters, Brown by 18 and Nelson by ten.

“At this point, Josh Mandel is not very well known and he can take some solace in the fact that Brown is not over the magic 50 percent threshold. There are seven months until Election Day, but Mandel needs to show some signs of life if he is going to make the Senate race competitive,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute in a release.

Nelson had only a two point lead on Mack in November, and a single digit advantage in Quinnipiac’s poll of Florida in January. But just has President Obama has surged in the state, Nelson’s numbers have also risen.
