The leading candidates in Virginia’s gubernatorial race are deadlocked, according to a poll from Quinnipiac University released Wednesday.

Former Democratic National Committee chair Terry McAuliffe and state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) each claim the support of 38 percent of Commonwealth voters in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup tested by Quinnipiac.

With Republican Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling included in the poll, McAuliffe edges Cuccinelli 34 percent to 31 percent. Thirteen percent said they would vote for Bolling, who has hinted that he may run as an independent.

The PollTracker Average shows a tight race emerging between McAuliffe and Cuccinelli.
