Since Romney’s VP announcement on Saturday morning, the progressives have raised over $75,000 for the Rob Zerban, the progressive Democrat running against Paul Ryan in Wisconsin’s 1st District, the Progressive Campaign Change Committee announced Monday. PCCC members’ contributions made up almost half of the total raised.
“With Paul Ryan set to ignore voters back home, and Rob Zerban running a strong campaign against Ryan’s plan to end Medicare, this is a golden opportunity for a progressive upset in Wisconsin,” PCCC co-founder Adam Green said in a statement. “That’s why thousands of grassroots donations have flooded in to Rob Zerban’s campaign from across the nation through BoldProgressives.org in the last 48 hours.”
Paul Ryan can run for reelection in his home district while also being on the national ticket as Mitt Romney’s running mate.
