Mitt Romney’s wealthy supporters are descending on Boston, Mass., Tuesday evening in order to attend the election night party, bringing a swarm of private jets to Boston’s Logan International Airport, the Boston Globe reports

According to Logan’s director of aviation, Edward Freni, 80 corporate jets were parked at the airport by 4:30 p.m. ET, about double the number on a typical day.

Freni compared the traffic to what he sees on busy college graduation weekends in Boston or for the Ryder Cup golf tournament in Brookline in 1999.

“It is a good amount for a Tuesday night in November,” he said.

The Romney campaign was planning a special reception Tuesday night at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center for the Republican candidate’s biggest financial backers. These members of Romney’s national finance committee are invited to gather in the “Green Room” before the speaking portion of the rally in the grand ballroom, according to a person invited to the event.

Romney’s invite-only election night celebration is expected to draw about 5,000 attendees.
