A new survey from Public Policy Polling (D) of the upcoming Ohio Senate race shows incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) with a comfortable lead against likely challenger, State Treasurer Josh Mandel. Brown leads with 47 percent of the vote versus Mandel’s 36. Brown continues to maintain a postive (yet somewhat low) approval rating in Ohio, scoring a 42 – 34 split in the PPP poll, which is very close to our TPM Poll Average of Brown’s approval. Mandel is underwater on favorability at 14 – 25.

“Sherrod Brown isn’t totally out of the woods,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling in a release. “A politician with an approval rating in the low 40s is always at least somewhat vulnerable. But there’s no indication that voters care much for Josh Mandel, and Brown has persistently had a healthy lead in our polling.”

Our TPM Poll Average of the Seante race in Ohio shows a continuing Brown lead.
