Public Policy Polling (D) released a poll Sunday night showing that SB 5, the new law in Ohio that limits collective bargaining rights for public sector unions, seems headed for repeal. PPP’s numbers show that 59 percent of Ohio voters are ready to take the law off the books, while 36 percent of registered voters want to keep it.

The vote is split along partisan lines, as SB 5 was pushed by Republican Gov. John Kasich and passed by the Republican legislature. PPP shows that independent voters are for repeal by fifteen points, in addition to 30 percent of Republicans.

From PPP:

If this margin holds on Tuesday night it will be a humilating defeat for John Kasich. Kasich continues to be one of the most unpopular Governors in the country with only 33% of voters approving of him to 57% who disapprove. If Ohio voters could do it over again they’d reelect Ted Strickland by a 55-37 margin over Kasich, and although they don’t have an opportunity for a redo on the Gubernatorial election the likely results of the
Senate Bill 5 referendum on Tuesday can be seen as a proxy for it.
