Polls Open For New Jersey Special Primary Election

Polls opened at 6 a.m. ET Tuesday in New Jersey, where primary voters will decide which candidates will square off this fall’s special U.S. Senate election.

Newark, N.J. Mayor Cory Booker (D) is expected to cruise to the Democratic nomination, while Republicans will likely nominate businessman Steve Longan. Polls will close at 8 p.m. ET.

The general election, held to fill the seat that was held by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), will be held Oct. 16.
