Poll: Support From Women Gives Obama The Edge

President Obama leads Mitt Romney 49 percent to 45 percent among likely voters, according to a new national poll from Quinnipiac University released Tuesday. Obama’s lead comes from a whopping 18-point lead among women. 

Among demographics that traditionally back Republicans, Romney leads among men by 10 points and white voters by 11 points.

On the issues, the candidates are tied on who would do a better job on the economy, while Obama leads on health care, national security and handling a crisis. Romney’s ahead on who would do a better job on the budget deficit.

The poll was conducted Sept. 25 – 30 among 1,912 likely voters nationwide and has a margin of error of +/- 2.2 percent.
