A new poll shows Rep. Joe Heck (R-NV) leading his Democratic opponent by 7 points in the race to replace retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).

Heck, who disavowed Trump earlier this month much to the dismay of his conservative base, is leading former state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto 49-42 percent among likely voters in the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC poll.

The last Wall Street Journal/NBC poll of the Nevada Senate race, conducted Oct. 6-8, showed Heck leading by 2 points, 47-45 percent.

The race is Republicans’ best opportunity to pick up a Democratic seat this cycle and has been a major target of Republican outside groups looking to take on Reid one last time.

The poll was conducted between Oct. 20 and Oct. 24 and surveyed 707 likely voters. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

The TPM PollTracker Average shows Heck leading Cortez Masto by 2.7 points, 46.1-43.4:
