New numbers from Public Policy Polling (D) show a three way race in the Tennessee GOP primary set for Tuesday, as former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum (R) has a five point lead. Santorum gets 34 percent, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romeny is at 29 and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich sees 27 in the new poll. Rep. Ron Paul gets eight percent to round out the field.
Santorum has led with Tennessee’s conservative voting bloc, giving him the advantage in the last six polls of the Republican race in the state. But the race is getting closer as the actual vote approaches — the TPM Poll Average shows Santorum maintaining a slim two percent lead.
