Mitt Romney leads President Obama by six points in Florida, 47 percent to 41 percent, according to the latest Quinnipiac poll out Wednesday. Adding Florida Sen. Marco Rubio to the ticket increases Romney’s edge by two points, 49 percent to 41 percent.

Romney’s lead represents a five-point shift since the last Quinnipiac poll on May 3, which put Romney ahead by just one point, 44 percent to 43 percent. Before that, their March 28 poll had Obama ahead by seven points.

Romney’s favorability is in the black in Florida, 44 percent to 35 percent. Obama’s favorability is underwater, 45 percent approve to 50 percent who disapprove. Another notable point in the poll is that Romney has erased the gender gap; women go for Obama by just one point.

The poll also measured whether President Obama’s support of same-sex marriage will have an effect on voters and 63 percent of of Florida voters said his support of gay marriage will not have an effect on their vote.

The PollTracker Average currently gives Romney a comparable lead over Obama in Florida.
