A new poll from Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling shows President Obama up 6 points over presumptive Republican nominee, 51 percent to 45 percent. Both candidates have locked down their base in New Hampshire, but Obama’s lead is built on independent voters — he leads among unaffiliated voters 52 percent to 40 percent in the state.

“New Hampshire is like many of the states that Obama won in 2008,” said Dean Debnam, President of PPP said in a release. “He’s not likely to win by the same kind of margin that he did last time around, but he’s still the clear favorite there.”

Another poll from the University of New Hampshire found Obama leading by 3 points, and the overall PollTracker Average shows the President up 4 percent.
