President Obama’s lead in Michigan has jumped to 14 points over Republican nominee Mitt Romney, according to a new poll commissioned by The Detroit News and WDIV released on Thursday. The poll, which surveyed 600 likely voters and has a margin of error of 4.0 percent, showed Obama with 52 percent to Romney’s 37.8 percent.
Obama’s margin stems from a twenty-point lead among women. The number of women identifying themselves as Democrats in Michigan jumped from 43 percent in August to 55 percent in September — nearly double the 29 percent identifying themselves as Republicans.
