President Obama’s lead in New Mexico now stands at 9 points, according to a poll released Sunday by the Albuquerque Journal. Fifty percent of the 662 likely voters surveyed say they will vote for Obama, while 41 percent chose Gov. Mitt Romney and 5 percent selected former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, who is running as a Libertarian. The survey had a margin of error of 3.8 percent.
The poll was nearly identical to an Albuquerque Journal poll from three weeks ago, which gave Obama a 10-point advantage. The current PollTracker average shows Obama maintaining a strong lead in the state.
