A new poll of the Indiana Republican Senate primary gives incumbent Sen. Dick Lugar a narrow edge over state Treasurer Richard Mourdock, as the two fight their way to the election this Tuesday.

The survey by Republican pollster Magellan Strategies shows Lugar with 44% support, to Mourdock’s 42%. The survey of likely GOP primary voters was conducted on May 1 and with a ±4.9% margin of error.

The poll was commissioned by Lunch Pail Republicans, a pro-labor group in Indiana, and which is supporting Lugar.

The TPM Poll Average for the primary gives Lugar a narrow edge of 43.0%-42.4%.
