Matching her lofty stature nationwide, Hillary Clinton is the most popular political figure in the state she represented for eight years in the U.S. Senate, according to a poll released Tuesday.
The latest poll from Siena College showed that 73 percent of New York voters have a favorable opinion of Clinton, while only a quarter of respondents said they have an unfavorable opinion of the former secretary of state.
Her statewide favorability rating – comparable to recent findings that have shown Clinton to be perhaps the most admired public figure in the country — edged other popular Empire State politicians tested in the survey, including Gov. Andrew Cuomo (61 percent), Sen. Chuck Schumer (59 percent), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (56 percent) and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (51 percent).
Clinton served as senator for New York until 2009, when she left the chamber to lead the State Department under President Barack Obama. The PollTracker Average provides a look at her strong national standing.
