Newark, N.J. Mayory Cory Booker (D) continues to look like an overwhelming favorite in New Jersey’s special U.S. Senate election, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

The poll found Booker with a massive lead among his Democratic rivals ahead of next Tuesday’s primary. Fifty-four percent of Garden State Democrats said they’d back the popular mayor, while Reps. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and Rush Holt (D-NJ) notched the support of 17 percent and 15 percent respectively. State Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver claimed only five percent support.

The poll also showed Booker crushing his likely Republican general election opponent, businessman Steve Lonegan, 54 percent to 29 percent.

Quinnipiac’s poll of the race last month showed nearly identical results.
