Politico has tapped David Chalian, the former Yahoo News Washington bureau chief who was fired for controversial remarks caught in a hot-mic moment at the Republican National Convention, to be the political news site’s new vice president of video programming.

During a webcast at the GOP convention, Chalian said Republicans were “happy” to have a party while black victims suffered through Hurricane Isaac.
