One suspected shooter is dead and authorities are searching for “potentially” two other shooters at Washington Navy Yard, metropolitan police department chief Cathy Lanier told reporters Monday.
Multiple victims are deceased on the premises of Navy Yard, but authorities are not releasing more information about their identities. Reports of more than one shooter are unconfirmed at this time, Lanier said.
One Navy Yard shooting victim, described as a man in his 60s, died at George Washington Hospital in D.C. Monday morning after suffering a single gunshot wound to the head, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Two civilians and one metropolitan police officer who suffered gun shot wounds at Navy Yard are in critical condition at Washington Hospital Center, the Chief Medical Officer told reporters Monday. All three are expected to survive.
