A lone shooter entered Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday morning, took out an assault rifle out of a bag and began to open fire, LA police chief Patrick Gannon said in a news conference.

At least three people were shot in the incident, including a TSA agent. The gunman proceeded to move past security screeners and opened fire into the airport itself, police said. Security officials tracked the gunman through the airport, where an officer was injured while engaged in apprehending the suspect.

Fire department officials treated seven people for injuries at LAX, six of whom were taken to an area hospital.
