The Colorado movie theater shooting suspect’s apartment was rigged with “sophisticated” booby traps and bomb technicians could be on site for days trying to disarm the explosives, Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said on Friday morning.

“We could be here for hours. We could be here for days,” Oates said. “The pictures are pretty disturbing. It looks pretty sophisticated in terms of how it’s been booby trapped.”

He said five buildings in the apartment complex had been evacuated. A police spokesman said fire trucks were standing by in case authorities needed to detonate the explosives inside the apartment.
