A new poll from Pew shows that Americans of all stripes aren’t exactly looking forward to the meat of the 2012 presidential campaign: 67 percent think of citizens polled said that the battle will be “exhausting;” 63 percent said it will be “annoying.” Independent voters are the most likely to hold both beliefs — 70 percent of indies said the contest will be “annoying” and 69 percent said it will be “exhausting.” From Pew:

The expectation that the election will be exhausting is in line with perceptions of the campaign so far. Most Americans say the campaign has been too long and dull (56% each), while 53% say it has been too negative. At the same time, an overwhelming majority (79%) views the presidential campaign as important.
