Rep. Peter King (R-NY) on Monday afternoon doubled down on his statement mocking Sen. Ted cruz (R-TX) as “a carnival barker” after the Texas senator announced that he would run for president in 2016.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked King whether he would support Cruz if he won the Republican nomination.
“I just hope that day never comes. I’ll jump off that bridge when we come to it,” King responded.
The congressman called Cruz “a guy with a big mouth and no results.”
“We have very, very complex issues facing the country today, and he goes out of his way to oversimplify,” King said. “Ted Cruz may be an intelligent person, but he doesn’t carry out an intelligent debate.”
King has never been a big fan of Cruz. Earlier in March, King said that Cruz and 2016 hopeful Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) are not “responsible adults.”
